Memoria Viva — 5 October 2026, 16:00, council chamber, Bellinzona

The afternoon

A town's memory is made of documents and archives, but also of voices: what people remember, how they tell it, and who is still there to be asked. Memoria Viva looks at what artificial intelligence can do with that material — collect it, transcribe it, index it, and hand it on to whoever comes next.

The afternoon is built for Ticino's municipalities. Two concrete projects are presented, then the screening of an interactive film, then an open discussion with the room.

Memoria Viva is part of the Swiss {ai} Weeks, the nationwide fortnight on artificial intelligence, and it is hosted by the Città di Bellinzona in the council chamber of the Palazzo Civico.

Merge at Memoria Viva

The festival closes on Sunday 4 October, and on the Monday it travels to Bellinzona. Merge brings a best of the 2026 selection — a short round of the films that marked the four days — and artistic directors Dario Cirrincione and Francesco Poloni stay for the discussion.

It is the one chance to catch the festival's films again after the closing ceremony, and it costs nothing.

Who it is for

The invitation goes out to municipal councillors, town clerks, and whoever looks after administration, culture and the archives in Ticino's municipalities — but the room is open to anyone interested, as long as they sign up.
